Choose File > Preferences to open the Preferences dialog box:
Setting the Tolerance Range allows you to determine how precise the matches are between your spectrum peak and the database. For example, suppose your spectrum had a peak at 1730 cm-1 and a functional group had a range of 1725-1710 cm-1. If you set Tolerance Range to zero, the functional group would not appear as a hit. If you set Tolerance Range to 10, however, your peak (1730+/-10) would overlap and thus match the functional group range.
You can also choose to display a wavenumber (x-axis position) marker with the cursor as it moves around the Spectrum pane.
