After a character table has been computed, you can reduce a reducible representation into its irreducible components. Choose Compute > Reduce Reducible Representation or use the controls on the character table to accomplish this.
Enter the characters of the representation, separated by commas, in the Reproducible Representation text box.
Click Reduce. The irreducible representations appear in the adjacent text field.
Example: Compute the character table for C3v. Enter the characters 4, 1, 0 in the Reproducible Representation text box, then click Reduce. Because you have entered the sum (column totals) of the three irreducible representations of C3v, A1+A2+E appears in the Irreducible Representations field.
Note: If you applied the Convert Complex Entries to Real Values checkbox in your character table computation, the reduction formula will yield erroneous results.
